MICROSOCCER 3V3
The Club is commttied to skills development and learning basic soccer at a young age (U5, U6, U7). US Soccer, NSCAA and experience coaches in the Club have found that playing 3v3 provides more per player touches to develop skills. It also provided an easier way for the players to learn the game and for coaches to teach.

We've asked the coaches to also on teaching basic rules such as restarts fron the center (now called placekicks), throw ins, goal kicks and corner kicks. Players need to know these basis rules. Very easy to teach in groups of 3. We've also asked them to be sure the sweeper/keepers go forward in support of the attack rather then play 2 attackers against 3 defenders. If they don't have the understanding we need to teach this basic tactic. Developing foot skills and attacking mentality are essential for keeper development in today's game. We also want to encourage players that are in defensive positions go forward, create some chances on goal for their teammates and shoot themselves. Don't need to push them too hard, just encourage and let them play. Above all, mastery of ball skills enable the players to develop a love for the game that they carry throughout their liftimes.

For games where teams that have too many subs, they can start a 2nd game of 3v3 and have assistant supervise.

SUMMARY OF INHOUSE TEAM FORMATION POLICY
Teams will be set up to assure parity and avoid 'stacked teams'. Requests for players team placement will be honored only in cases of special need that can be verified. Board Members, Coaches and Assistant Coaches fall into this category. Coaches and assistants will have their childern on their teams.

The number of teams formed will be based on player registrations, field availability and number of adult volunteers. No teams will be formed without adult volunteers. High School and other young players will be encouraged and recruited to train and coach games but they will not be responsible for team administration.

Age Groups will run from August 1 to July 31 and will follow FIFA guidelines. These are the standard US Soccer Age Groups and will correspond with Travel Age Groups. It will better prepare players for Travel and make it easier for Travel coaches to determine which players are eligible for their teams. It will also enable players to make new friends outside of their ususal school age/grade groups.

After teams are set up, no new players will be added to existing teams without the expressed approval of the Inhouse Director. If there is no room on exisitng teams, the new applicants will be place on a wait list until new teams are formed and coaches recruited. New schedules will also have to be created.

SPRING U7 TRAVEL ORIENTATION PROGRAM
In order to enhance our player and coach development, each year we introduce our Inhouse Under 7 Age Group to a higher level of soccer by way of our Travel Orientation (Bridge to Travel) program. The program’s purpose is to encourage players to participate in Under 8 Travel in the following Fall/Spring season by showing them how skills training can make them better players. At young ages, individual technique, foot speed, balance and foot skills are vital for player development. This is the foundation of our Academy program. Children must perfect skill while they are young and not wait until 12 or 13 years old if they want to compete at the high school level.   The Travel Orientation Program for Under 7 Inhouse boys & girls interested in playing U8 Travel for the next Fall/Spring season begins with our Academy Program during winter. The Academy starts first Thursday in January and runs for 8 consecutuive weeks. It is also open to older players.

During the upcoming spring Inhouse season we will introduce this group to the larger field and increased number of field players used by the Under 8 Travel teams.  Each Saturday the coaches will present a skill topic (dribbling, passing, trapping/receiving) and the players will work on this for the first part of the session. The second part of the session will consist of a 5v5+kepper game which will introduce the children to playing with larger sides. In addition to the spring Saturday activities, we will be looking for 1 coach to invite the more committed players to a group practice during the week. To prepare for the next Fall/Spring season, we will form at least 1 girls team and 1 boys team based on evaluations which will be in early spring. We will also need coaches for each one of these teams. Please email coach@carmelsoccer.com if you want to coach.
