HIGH SCHOOL AGES TO BE DETERMINED

***ALL PLAYERS MUST TRYOUT AND BRING COPY OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE (if new Travel player) AND SIGNED 'PARENTS CODE OF CONDUCT FORM' (Not necessary if one was prepared before), BALL, SHINGUARDS AND WATER. ***

PICTURES FOR PLAYER PASSES WILL BE UPLOADED AT TIME OF ACTUAL REGISTRATION FOLLOWING TRYOUTS.

TEAMS WILL BE FORMED AND PLAYERS ASSIGNED BASED ON EVALUATIONS MADE AT TRYOUTS ACCORDING TO PROCEDURES FOUND ON THE LINKS BELOW. EVALUATORS WILL NOT BE ASSOCIATED WITH PLAYERS ON A TEAM IN THE AGE GROUP. PLAYERS SHOULD TRYOUT FOR THEIR APPROPRIATE GENDER AND AGE GROUP UNLESS TOLD OTHERWISE BY THE TRAVEL VP. OUR GOAL IS TO FORM THE MOST COMPETETIVE TEAMS POSSIBLE WHILE GIVING THE MOST CHILDREN THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY TRAVEL SOCCER.

With the approval of the Tryout Committee or Board of Directors, a player may try-out for an older age group. However, in order to be placed in the older age group, the player must score in the top three at the try-outs for that olderage group. (Simply being the best player in their age group will not qualify them for the older age group...They must be one of the best three players in the OLDER age group).

If teams are starting out with low roster numbers, players will be allowed to play up in order to allow a team to be formed with the understanding that if an age-appropriate group does form in the future, they will be placed in their age-appropriate group. If they wish to play for the older age group, they must score in the top 3 of the older age group during tryouts to be considered.

PLAYERS WHO DO NOT ATTEND A SCHEDULED TRYOUT MAY FORFEIT THEIR OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY ON A TEAM IN THAT GENDER/AGE GROUP IF SUFFICIENT PLAYERS ARE AVAILABLE TO FORM A TEAM OR TEAMS.

PLAYERS NOT ACCEPTED ON A TRAVEL TEAM WILL BE PLACED INHOUSE IF AGE GROUP EXISTS UNTIL TRAVEL ROSTER POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INHOUSE AND TRAVEL REGISTRATION FEES WILL BE REFUNDED.

PLAYERS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY 6/3. ALL PLAYER REGISTRATIONS INCLUDING BIRTH CERTIFICATES AND UPLOADED DIGITAL PICTURES MUST BE COMPLETED BY 6/6 OR BE SUBJECT TO A $25 PENALTY AND COULD FORFEIT THEIR POSITION ON THE TEAM.

CONTACT TRAVEL VP JOEL CASSIDY AT CASSIDYCLAN11@COMCAST.NET IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIIONS.

Club Policy for Travel Team Formation                       Travel Tryouts and Coach /Trainer Selection

WHERE THE MONEY COMES FROM AND WHERE IT GOES
Carmel United Soccer is an organization dedicated to the sport of soccer. We are not part of any state, county, town or school district program and receive no taxpayer funding. All Board members are volunteers. Travel revenues come from player registration, tournament fees, camp fees and sponsors. Recently there has been limited general fundraising. Most fundraising has been done by individual Travel teams that keep those revenues for themselves.

Much of the money goes to usage fees for indoor and outdoor grass and turf fields as well as  gym and meeting room facilities fees. These expenses are paid to the towns of Carmel and Patterson, the Patterson Park district, the Carmel School District and North County Sports. We must also pay separately to buy equipment and supplies and maintain the fields at Matthew Patterson Elemetary School, Patterson Memorial Park and Camarada Park. Grass fields are overused as the Towns of Kent, East Fishkill and Putnam Valley provide no facilites. We must also pay East Hudson Youth Soccer League players registration fees and referee fees.

COACHES MEETINGS 2ND MONDAY OF MONTH, PATTERSON REC CENTER . ALL TEAMS MUST BE REPRESENTED.

TRAVEL PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Carmel United Soccer Club is an organization founded in 1980 dedicated to soccer. It is the Soccer Program that includes all the children of the Carmel School District. We are not a school or town program and our Board of Directors are not paid. We are a volunteer organization and receive no taxpayer money from the any government agency. The Club runs a Travel Program for ages 8 through 19 and an Inhouse Program for ages 3 through 11.

Carmel United competes in the East Hudson Youth Soccer League which is affiliated with Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association and the United States Soccer Federation (US Soccer). For more on East Hudson, click on LINKS at the left and then the link to East Hudson.

There are separate teams and League divisions for girls and boys. Level of competion and training prepares players for high school level of play. Players cannot effectively learn required skills to successfully compete at the high school level after age 11. The longer the player is prevented from improving skills after age 8 the harder it is for him/her to acquire them. We also stress sportsmanship, fitness, organization, team committment and other skills the young players will keep with them the rest of their lives.

Pracitce is two times a week at a facility in the Carmel area. This is typically only one more practice than Inhouse but is more concentrated and efficient. We provide coaches with licensing and training opportunities. Many of our coaches have US Soccer licenses and/or NSCAA diplomas. Some have decades of playing and youth soccer and high school coaching experience.

Games are scheduled Sunday afternoons between 12:00 noon and 5:00 PM. Fall season starts first week of September and runs until the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Spring season begins the first Sunday in April and runs until mid June. There are no games scheduled Columbus Day, Easter, Passover or Memeorial day weekends
.

There are typically 8 or 10 games scheduled in the Fall and 8 to 10 scheduled in the Spring. One half of these games are played at our home fields in the Carmel area including Carmel High School, George Fischer Middle School, Patterson Elementary School, Camarda Park and Patterson Memorial Park. the other half are played against otjer soccer clubs from East Fishkill, Mahopac, Brewster, Bedford, Somers, Yorktown, Lagrange, Beekman, Wappingers, Highland and many others in between.

During the winter there is practice in a school district gym, town recreation center, or indoor turf facility, weather permitting. Teams compete in indoor tournaments and leagues sponsored by other clubs in the East Hudson League. This gives players the opportunities to improve skills and decision making in a confined environment. Teams do individulal and Club sponsored fund raising to cover costs. We sponsor an indoor skills clinic from January to March and and our own indoor Torunamemt during late February and outdoor Tounamnet in March to raise funds. More information on our tournaments is available by clicking on TOURNAMENTS on the left. We also run a Summer Skills Clinic in July. We use local trainers who played at the collge level; some coach and/or referee in the Club. Infomation on the Skills Clinic will be posted to CAMPS on the left when it becomes avaialable.

More information on the local facilities we use is avaialable by clicking on Locations/Directions on the left.

THIS INFOMATION IS BASED ON THE EXPERIENCE OF MANY PARENTS WHO HAVE HAD THEIR CHILDREN GO THROUGH THE CARMEL UNITED AND OTHER YOUTH SOCCER PROGRAMS BOTH IN THE US AND ABROAD. SOME HAVE PARENTS HAVE DEVELOPED AS SOCCER PLAYERS THROUGH THESE VERY PROGRAMS.

COACHING IN THE CLUB'S TRAVEL PROGRAM
The Club's Travel program currently consists of 18 teams. We are always looking for
certain individuals to coach our Travel Players. Although playing and coaching in the past helps, it is our experience that dedication to player development as well as organization and communications skills make excellent youth soccer coaches. The most successful coaches produce players that develop a love for the game and play
for many years at higher levels long after they have played for the coach.

If you are interested in joining our Travel Coaching staff please send Head Coach Kieth Bowman a brief resume to coach@carmelsoccer.com. The Club provides funding for US Soccer licensing, NSCAA Diploma and other training for both Travel and Inhouse coaches
