​ON TRYOUT DAY:

​

1. Arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time to check-in.

​

2. Bring a ball, shin guards, and water. Cleats are recommended for outdoor Tryouts. They are not allowed at Carmel Sports Club..

3. All players NEW to our travel program must provide a copy of their birth certificate or passport when registering for Tryouts or bring one to the first day of Tryouts.

4. Tryouts for U15 and under groups will be approximately 1 hour. Older age groups will be longer.​​

​US Soccer Age Group Requirements

Carmel United starts Travel at the U8 age group.

​US Soccer and its affiliates are changing team formation requirements from "Birth Year" (Jan 1 - Dec 31) to what they call "School" or "Seasonal" Year (Aug 1 - Jul 31). Beginning with the Fall 2026/Spring 2027 year, Carmel United will form teams in accordance with these new requirements. Carmel United's Plan for these changes.

• Patterson Park = Patterson Veterans Memorial Park: 65 Maple Avenue, Patterson, NY 12563
• CHS = Carmel High School: 30 Fair Street, Carmel, NY 10512
• MPES-1 = Matthew Paterson Elementary School: 100 South Street, Patterson, NY 12563 (field by school entrance)
  
• MPES-2 = Matthew Paterson Elementary School: 81 South Street, Patterson, NY 12563 (field by District office)
• CSC = Carmel Sports Club:111 Old Route 6, Carmel, NY 10512
• All new AND returning players must try out to be considered and you must register in advance. Registration is free!
• The above Tryout schedule is tentative. Dates/Times are subject to change. Be sure to check back periodically up until the day before Tryouts for any updates/changes to the schedule.
• Tryouts for U16 and older age groups will take place at existing team practices. 
• We recognize community and religious events take place at this time of year which is why we schedule two days of tryouts. While attendance at both tryout days is always recommended, especially for new players, it is not required. 
  
• For U09 and older players, if there is no age-appropriate team, the player may try out for a team that is one year older only. This is not permissible for U08 players.
• If there is no girls' team for a particular age group, girls are also allowed to try out for the corresponding age-appropriate boys' team.
• When registering, new players will automatically be put in their age-appropriate group based on birth year. If a player wishes to try out for an older age group (1 year up only), please email us at info@carmelsoccer.com.
  
  • If trying out for an age group older than the age-appropriate group and the player is not currently on the team, the player must rank in the top 5 of the older age group (U13+) to be considered unless there is no age-appropriate team. 
    
  • Note: we do not generally allow this for players U12 or younger.​​​​
    

​Post-Tryout Process​

• Travel teams are formed based on several factors and considerations including, but not limited to Tryout evaluations. We aim to form teams balancing player and team development while also maintaining a positive team dynamic that best represents Carmel United and our community.

* There are currently two teams in this age group. New players will be assigned to teams based on need. Players cannot request a specific team.

Unless noted, teams play in Hudson Valley Youth Soccer League.
